Hi, I`m Rowan. I came to Mickaboo from a South Bay shelter because I wasn`t doing very well there. After Mickaboo took me in and got me to a vet, we found that I had pneumonia, possible metal poisoning, and multiple infections of the sinuses and respiratory system. After weeks of atibiotics, chelating agents (yuck!) and nebulizers, I was much improved but I will probably always be a special needs bird. My nares (nostrils) still get clogged easily and, among other things I need high humidity and frequent mist baths to help control that.

Besides all of that, I`m a pretty normal cockatiel: I sing, chew on toys, climb around and whistle at myself in the mirror. I have made friends with my foster dad and other cockatiels here in my foster home, and I want to go to a forever home where I can make friends with birds and people just like I have here. If you can give me a little extra care and attention and maybe let me share the shower with you every morning, I would love to go home with you.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
