Hi, I`m Turbo, a young male tiel. I came into Santa Cruz shelter with a minor injury after somebody tried to clip my wings, and clipped my actual wing! Ouchie! I am not able to grow flight feathers on that wing. I am warming up to humans but I still prefer to be with other birds. I am very happy to sing and chat with human and bird friends, though! Hands make me nervous but I will perch on a stick for a sunflower seed (which are my favorite!)
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
