Hello, I`m Elvis, here with my buddy Clara (he`s a guy but we`re still bonded). We came to Mickaboo in June 2020 when our "kids" went off to college. That`s so sad but we are ready for a new adventure. I`m a tiny bit tame but didn`t really get out much to learn to be with people. We`re pretty quiet unless we`re hungry or just too happy not to chirp! We are shy, and were never formally trained, but we are friendly and comfortable with people and will climb on fingers and shoulders once we are comfortable with you. We`ve been eating a seed mix so will need some encouragement to transfer to a pellet-based diet. But I bet we could make your forever home pretty fun, huh?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
