Hi there, I`m Quinn. I came to Mickaboo in May 2021 after being surrendered, along with a cockatiel, to a local Petco store. I a a tame half-English budgie. My foster mom says I am a very nice little boy, not afraid of people, willing to step up, and I don`t bite very hard.
I have been living with a "standard" budgie in my foster home. We get along okay, even grooming each other on occasion. However, when I am not feeling sociable, I stand up very tall so I tower over the much-smaller standard budgie so he will back off. I`m not a bully, but I understand that I am bigger and I make use of that to rule the roost!
Because I have the capacity to become a bully, I`m probably not the best bird for a first-time budgie home. I will need to be watched to be sure I don`t bully a smaller bird. Do you already have an english budgie in your forever home? Then I`m the guy for you!
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
