Hi, I`m Eldin! I came from an outdoor aviary where I lived with finches. The owner threatened to set us all free, but luckily I landed at Mickaboo. I am a very timid boy. When I first came to live with my foster, I didn`t eat for 2 days. I might do the same if I come to live with you, but be patient with me while I adjust. Now I eat Roudybush pellets. I`m not fond of fruits or veggies, but I need to learn that they`re good for me, so please keep providing them for me. I do not like other birds, I hiss and lunge at them, and then run away. So I would either need to go to a household without any other birds or I need to be kept separate from them. I am flighted though I don`t care to do it much. I also have poor mobility so I need a simple cage layout with easy access to my food and water dishes. I have had checkups at the vet and we have determined that I have some sort of liver problem. There ends up being too much fat in my blood so I am not allowed to eat any seeds. Pellets only! Another symptom of my liver problem is that my beak grows long very fast and needs to be regularly trimmed. My foster parent says she is happy to show any potential adopters how it`s done. I am slowly getting used to people and will step up on a hand if it means you are putting me back in my cage. Otherwise, I don`t like to be handled. I am the most content on my favorite rope perch looking out the window. I am also a very quiet bird and would be ideal for apartment dwellers.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
