Hi, I`m Washi! I had a rough day back in December 2021 and got hurt while I was flying about in San Francisco just doing my usual parrot stunts as a wild conure in the city. I smacked into something and got hurt, and broke my leg and my wing. Ow!

Just as I was lying there wondering what on earth I would do, a nice lady walking some dogs spotted me and scooped me up and took me home. She did some research and called Mickaboo and they got me taken right up to Medical Center for Birds who wrapped my wing and checked out my legs and got me started on some pretty trippy painkillers. Hooray for Tramadol!

I had to spent 4 weeks in a hospital tank without any perches or toys. Oh man I was so BORED. Every day I would just sit there waiting for my foster mom to top up my meds and bring me more food and chunks of apple. I kept trying to get out every single day. Each time she opened my tank I`d try to make a break for it and she got me every time.

It`s been a couple of months now and I`m off all my meds and finally in a cage with toys and perches! I am not afraid of hands and I really like head scritches. I don`t step up and my wing is still healing so I have to be contained and not allowed to flap. It took me three weeks to chew off my wing wrap - hey, a bird needs things to do!

I`m feeling so much better now, I`m so excited to get more attention and more out time when I`m allowed! I`m so glad that lady found me and helped me. I thought my number was up, but I`m doing great now! Talk later -- I see more apple chunks coming my way! -- Washi
