Species: Cockatiel
Sex: Male
Sub-Species: Pied
Adopted on 2022-06-11
Swapna came in with a broken wing. Like all of Mickaboo`s birds, he received the veterinary care he needed to recover. His wing has healed very well, and he can fly upwards and for short distances (like across the room) without significant difficulty. He isn`t tame, but he is interested in people and loves to be talked to. He may never be a strong flyer, but he can live in a regular cage and with some time and love and attention, he will make a very nice companion. He has made friends with the other cockatiels in his foster home, and sings to them in the evening. He also makes sounds that resemble human speech, and may be trying to talk to us, too. We think he is male, so he probably needs a new name.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
