Kiki is an amazing little fellow! He is about 12 years old and he came to Mickaboo from a loving home of 5 years after having 3 previous owners. Kiki says a few words like "step up", "Kiki", and every now and then what sounds like “pretty bird.” He also whistles the theme from "Woody Woodpecker." And loves to give a little wolf whistle every now and then. He is food motivated and eats his pellets as well as a variety of fruits and veggies, especially when chopped up. He steps up beautifully and even will let you know when he wants up by lifting his foot out. He loves to take a nice warm shower with you, sometimes getting directly wet sometimes just hanging out on a perch in the warm air. After the shower, he enjoys the typical caique surfing on the towel to help with drying himself off and then perching in the sunlight near or on you and preening. He actually likes to surf on various fabrics or materials and is very curious about everything. He hops around on the floor everywhere and tries to examine mainly everything. Kiki is most happy when he can be directly interacting with his family, though it might not be recommended to handle him for too long since he can get nippy at times. If you find yourself at the computer, Kiki would love to hang out with you on your wrist while you type, maybe even hitting the space bar for you once every so often. He loves head scritches and will make kissing sounds to show his love. Whistling “Taps” and “Reveille” can make for a happy Kiki as well. He is friendly with many people, but every now and then, when he thinks someone has looked at him funny and doesn’t approach him confidently enough, he goes on the offense. He also may get a little nippy when he doesn’t get his way. He also does not particularly enjoy being in his cage for too long. He would much rather be interacting with the household members or exploring everything but his cage. He is very quiet after putting him away for bed. Upon waking up, when he thinks you’re awake, he does little chirps from his cage to let you know he is also awake. The last very important thing to know is Kiki makes a very high pitched call sound that sounds like a very squeaky hinge or car brakes. He does it pretty often, especially when he isn’t receiving direct contact with someone like on a perch while he eats or is just hanging out in general. It is high-pitched enough to where it would be best if he were placed in a home where everyone would be okay with a short but loud BEEEP every few seconds. This beep can be lessened if he is preening on you, you are talking to him, or he is exploring. He also makes similar calls to a sun conure.
