I`m Caleb, an older cockatiel. When I came into Mickaboo, it was because my owner had passed away, and me and the other birds in the aviary had no one to care for us. I was attacked by a rat, and it hurt me a lot. It took a lot of time and help for me to recover, and my back is still not quite right. I have to wear a little collar to keep me from biting at the irritation there, and I`m pretty much blind now. I need a home that has experience with special needs cockatiels to give me the special attention I deserve. I`m currently buddied up with Irwin, who I only met recently.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
