Hi, I`m Sapphire, the blue budgie on the left, who came to Mickaboo along with my buddy Pearl from a large aviary surrender in April 2022. I have definitely already improved my people skills, though I am still somewhat skittish and anxious about hands. Progress!

I was raised on a seed-only diet but have been switched over successfully to Nutri-An cakes. I`ve also been willing to cautiously explore chopped veggies each morning!

My beak is pretty short but does not seem bother me or impact my eating ability in the least. My foster mom is helping me strengthen and grow it back with better nutrition than I`ve ever had before!

My buddy Pearl and I mirror each other's every move. Wouldn`t we be a cute addition to YOUR forever home?

In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
