We are a pair who prefer each other`s company. If we are in separate rooms, we will call and fly to seek the other out. We don`t cuddle, but we do eat together, play with the same toys together, and simply hang out together.
We are a flighted pair who is used to having 3-5 hours of free flight time out of the cage daily. We love shredder toys and can demolish one within 24 hours. We are active, but also content to sit and chill out. We`re not noisy but we do repetitive calls, particularly at dusk. Gertie can even wolf whistle (you know, "woo-woo!")
We eat pellets, seed, and greens. I especially like chard! We don`t talk, but we make happy sounds and we will step up. Maybe your forever home would work for us?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
